About

I was born in Hamilton and moved to Caledonia in 1977.   The Hewitt family has long history in Haldimand that dates back to the early 1800’s.  I played local sports, particularly hockey, and attended local high schools in Caledonia and Cayuga.

After graduating high school in 1986, I was accepted to University of Ottawa in the faculty of Social Sciences where I studied Political Science and Economics.  While attending University I was able to improve my bilingual skills and fortunate enough to play on the University hockey team.

In 1991, I entered the financial services industry obtaining my life insurance license and subsequently my mutual funds license.  For over 30 years I have been providing financial planning ideas for a number of businesses and individuals.

In 2004, recognizing that there was no opportunity for local girls to play hockey, I started the new local association, “Haldimand RiverCats”.

In 2010, after careful consideration, I chose to run locally for Mayor of Haldimand County, in an effort to bring about a different style fo leadership.   I have now been the Mayor of Haldimand County since then winning three consecutive elections.

Today, I feel I have the necessary skills acquired from all of my previous experiences to be an effective leader, communicator and team player with the Ontario PC Party.  I look forward to representing Haldimand-Norfolk as an MPP working with the Ford government.
